Civic R&D is the practice of helping communities continuously learn, adapt, and respond together as technology reshapes the world around them. A four-week residency where frontier builders, local business owners, researchers, and residents work together in Goa to put that practice into action.
Ground Floor begins with a simple belief: the future becomes stronger when the places living closest to change have the opportunity to help shape it.
We chose Goa because it already exhibits many of the signals we look for in a field lab. An ambitious public vision. A growing technology ecosystem. Independent businesses. Strong cultural identity. Global curiosity. Local leadership.
Rather than asking what AI can do for a place, we are asking a different question:
What becomes possible when frontier builders and local operators spend four weeks building alongside one another?
Meet local businesses. Understand how work already happens. Build trust before building tools.
Prototype alongside business owners, not for them. Every idea begins in a real workflow.
Test tools inside shops, guesthouses, cafés, studios, and small firms where everyday work happens.
Document what worked. Share what didn’t. Strengthen relationships. Increase local capacity.

If you run a business in Goa, we’d love to hear from you.
If you’re interested in supporting the work, let’s talk.
If you’re a builder, researcher, artist, or operator who belongs in the room, introduce yourself.
The future arrives locally.
