THE INITIATING FOUNDERS

WHO WE ARE.

Built by people who work at the edge.

Mariella Torres.
Co-Founder
Mariella Torres

"Communities already have everything they need. Our work is making it visible, until it's inevitable."

Mariella practices emergence architecture: recognizing the pattern in early signals before it becomes a known outcome, then building the structure that makes it inevitable. She has led Notion activations, AI-native programming, and community partnerships across three Edge residencies, working alongside YC-backed founders, researchers, community leaders, and entrepreneurs.

Her work has taken her from San Francisco to South Africa to Patagonia, building partnerships and communities across vastly different cultural contexts. As Vice President of the Board of City Market, she helps govern one of the largest community-owned food co-ops in the United States: a $60 million business owned by more than 12,000 neighbors in Burlington, Vermont. Earlier in her career, she led partnerships that helped a YC-backed company reach one in two U.S. households through the people and infrastructure that deliver it.

Obsessed with what ambitious people and companies are meant to build together.

Noah White

"The tools that run the economy should belong to the people running it."

Founder of Cerno, working with America's 7,500 local chambers on the tools, data, and shared voice their communities are missing. He spent time in impact investing, putting over $500K into early-stage startups and co-leading a $10M fundraise for a Series A for an AI merchant company. Since then the work has been hands-on: AI initiatives inside eight-figure businesses covering strategy, audits, workflow design, deployment, and training, workshops with 60+ business owners, and residencies for AI builders in Healdsburg.
